Concept #3: picture the painting

The goal is for children (between the ages of 7 and 10) to portray a familiar painting as quickly as possible. This game can be played with 2 to 10 children, it depends on how many characters are in the painting.

In front of them there is a beamer or big screen showing the painting they have to depict. Their bodies are then reregistered by a Kinect motion camera. On screen feedback can be shown which person needs to adjust their posture to make the remake even better. The faster you can imitate the painting with your friends, the higher your score. This picture can then end up on a wall somewhere

Feedback over concept #3

You could make the concept even more challenging by adding a back-end that keeps track of paintings and photos. Also, do some research on Unreal Engine and on how to implement that technology. To complete the experience, at the end (if the painting is replicated well) a photograph can be printed off of the children.

Concept #2: Table basketball

This concept is miniature version of basketball and is made for people with physical disabilities who still want to play basketball. The concept consists of a miniature basketball player who can move on a table (approx. 60cm by 120cm). This movement is made possible by two stepper motors that each control an x and y-axis, controlled by Arduino (like a plotter machine or a gripper arm).

The basket player itself can rotate on its own axis and move its arm with a servo motor. The idea is to score the ball in a goal from a certain position. When you score, sounds and light shows can be played. The game can also be played as multiplayer. The second person then controls the basketball defender with joysticks.

Feedback over concept #2

Look at how you can handle player control differently (other than just joysticks). Maybe you can use your cell phone as a controller. A servo motor will not be powerful enough to fire a mini basketball. You could use a solenoid for this, do research on the mechanism of a pinball machine.

Concept #1: Christmas three 2.0

With this concept, I want to reinvent the Christmas tree. How to make a Christmas tree smart, how can a Christmas tree connect people? From your cell phone or computer you will be able to send messages to your own, or someone else's Christmas tree. These can be text messages, light effects, sound effects and motion effects.

This Christmas tree is made for friends or family who cannot celebrate Christmas together. If you send a message to someone else's tree, this message will appear /mapped in the lights. In the future, it may be possible to connect two Christmas trees directly to each other (i.e. without the intervention of smartphones). For example, you can touch a bauble in your tree and it will light up in the other tree, so you can let that person know you are thinking of them.

This became my final concept, for more info look here.

Feedback over concept #1

Focus even more on connection, customization and interactivity. Maybe you can design custom presets, or pair it with camera tracking.

The tree may not need to be in someone's living room. Why can't it be a public installation? E.g. a big Christmas tree on the market square of Kortijk where people can send a message to or interact with. Perhaps there is also a good cause to link to it.

You can also approach it in a different way by using beamer projection instead of individual led lights. This way you can give even more accurate visuals to your tree. You can also put screens in Christmas balls.

Finally, how secure is this concept towards privacy? Won't people disturb me while I want to watch TV in peace, can people just find my Christmas tree and connect with it?
